Paternity Tests - Quality Assurance
The following certificates are awarded to bj-diagnostik as part of external quality assurance programmes:
- GEDNAP is the German DNA profiling commission (a joint commission of institutes for Forensic Science and Legal Medicine), which distributes different kinds of samples (swabs, trace analysis of blood, sperm, stamps etc.), twice per year for comparative laboratory evaluation (dgrm.de, a very intensive programme).
- International Society for Forensic Genetics (ISFG) is conducting a laboratory evaluation programme concentrating on the analysis of samples and the calculation of relatedness in complex cases, for example, cases lacking a sample of the father (isfg.org).
- Our laboratory is accredited by DAkkS (national accreditation body for the Federal Republic of Germany) to the ISO 17025 international standard for paternity and family relationship testing.
Proficiency testing is part of the quality assurance of our analyses procedures. These tests are performed by independant organisations given above.
